Sleep Health Technology: Apps, Wearables, Nearables, Big Data and the Future of Sleep Tech

Over the past 10 years, sleep tracking technology has moved from the lab into the field. Newer devices are being used by patients, athletes, researchers and the public to assess and improve their sleep health. This presentation provides an overview of the context, promise, pitfalls and potential for applying sleep health technology to public health, translational science and health care delivery.

Dr. Michael Grandner is the director of the Sleep and Health Research Program at the University of Arizona Health Sciences and associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, with joint appointments in medicine, psychology, nutritional sciences and clinical translational sciences. His work focuses on downstream cardiometabolic and functional outcomes of poor sleep health; upstream social, behavioral and environmental determinants of sleep health; and interventions for improving sleep health.
